Representatives met with Corumbene management on Wednesday, 8 February 2017 to commence negotiations for a new Non Nursing Agreement.
The meeting was to discuss process for negotiations and to reach agreement on the number of meetings and format of meetings moving forward. HACSU had requested in previous correspondence that the Log of Claims also be included on the agenda for discussion.
Management began the meeting by advising that they did not have the capacity to negotiate both the Nursing and Non Nursing Agreements at the same time for a number of reasons and therefore they would be starting with the Nursing Agreement.
There was a discussion around HACSU’s concern that come 1 July 2017 when the next wage increase would be due, if the negotiations have not been completed, there would be a question as to whether there will be back pay for Members.
Management’s response was they hoped to conclude negotiations before 1 July 2017 but if not, they would not entertain back pay.
Additionally, management has agreed to only 2 hours total paid time for Bargaining Reps to attend the meetings.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 22 February at 3:00pm and HACSU Members will be updated.
