Who can join HACSU

Employees working in the following industries can join HACSU:

Nurses

All Registered and Enrolled Nurses wherever they are employed.

Public Sector

State employees (other than Medical Practitioners) employed in the Department of Health and Human Services. Certain state employees in the Department of Primary Industry Water and Environment and the Department of Justice.

Private Sector

Employees who work in Private Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Disability Services, Community Services, Medical Diagnostic Services, private Doctor's surgeries and private Dentist's surgeries.

HACSU covers almost all classifications of employees in the above industries, allied health professionals, nurses, support workers, administrative and clerical, ancillary staff such as cleaners, grounds staff, tradespersons, kitchen staff and many others.

What does HACSU do?

HACSU's primary objective is to improve the working lives of its members, by negotiating improvements in wages and conditions, by protecting workers' rights and by assisting workers to organise in their workplace around workplace issues. HACSU will assist workers by making submissions to Governments and other authorities to ensure worker's needs and rights are considered in decisions.
