Deb's DebutA big hello to all members! My name is Deb Carnes and in June this year I was appointed as the new HACSU Nursing Organiser for the Southern Region. Since my appointment I have been working closely with my colleague, Leanne McDougall. After time in a variety of jobs including office work and piano teaching, I decided to undertake nursing as a career. In 1994 I completed my degree at the University of Tasmania. You may find it hard to believe, but I am still studying, having commenced a Doctor of Nursing (off-campus) at Adelaide University this year. My clinical nursing experience is varied and includes acute care, emergency and rural nursing. I am sure my work experience in both the public and private sector in the past will prove useful in my new role at HACSU. You may have seen me out and about in your worksite already but if you haven't then don't despair! You can contact me at the Hobart Office if you need to on ph: 6231 2253 or fax: 6231 4142. I look forward to meeting and working with you soon.
