Are you missing out on paid handover time?Members working in aged care are reminded they may be entitled to paid handover time as per clause 12 of their enterprise agreement. The clause reads as follows. "In situations where meal breaks are paid and there is not sufficient paid time each day to allow for handover, a maximum of 45 minutes per day (24 hour period) will be paid for handover. This handover time will be paid at the rate applying to the shift worked by the employee, however no overtime rates apply. In the event that handovers are completed in less than 45 minutes per day, only the time worked during handover will be paid. Provided that where handover time is greater than 45 minutes per day no extra payments will be made in excess of 45 minutes." Members are also reminded if they are unable to leave the workplace during a meal break and may be called upon to return to work during the meal break, the meal break will be paid. These are our entitlements and can be enforced.
