HACSU Revamps Organisational RestructureHACSU has revamped its organizational structure to ensure clear lines of communication and responsibility. The division of the union into the three main sectors of nursing, public and private is cemented as the core structure. The importance of Sub Branches has been strengthened, with Sub Branches now established for nursing, disability services, health professionals and ambulance officers. Planning is also underway for the establishment of an Aged Care Sub Branch. Separate research, training, telephone information and membership sections also form a key part of the new structure. Full time paid organizers and industrial officers have been allocated clear areas of responsibility and will work within teams. State Secretary, Chris Brown, said the steady growth in union membership across all areas of health and community services had necessitated an overhaul, which would now provide better support and information to worksite committees, delegates and members. "We have reorganized the way we work at HACSU to make HACSU more responsive to members' needs," Chris said. "The new organizational structure is aimed at providing a support framework to assist with the establishment of worksite committees, facilitate delegate training and identify delegates." "The ultimate aim is to get members to realize they are the union, that it is in members own interests to recruit to get a stronger union presence in the workplace." "The new structure will make it clear to delegates who and where they go to get the support needed to achieve that aim."
