St Luke's Pays UpThe Federal Court decision has also seen St Luke’s Private Hospital fall into line and agree to make these payments St Luke's had previously refused to pay the post graduate allowance - the only private hospital to go down this path and refuse to pay - based on similar arguments as the public sector. St Luke's management had conducted a strident campaign against payment of the allowance and against HACSU, at one point attempting to frustrate HACSU officials from meeting with members by taking legal action using John Howard's anti-union laws over HACSU officials right of entry to the workplace. St Luke's nurse members have now been informed the allowance will be paid and legal action over HACSU official's right of entry has been withdrawn. Members are reminded they need to make application for the post-graduate allowance to be paid. Documentary evidence must be sighted and signed off by the Clinical Nurse Manager. HACSU will keep members informed of developments. Please contact Nursing Organisers Irena Allen on 6332237, Deb Carnes on 6231 2253 or Louise Leslie on 6424 6885 if you have any further concerns.
