State Service Wages - Times UpThe time is almost up for the current State Services Wages Agreement, which is due to expire at the end of July this year. The final instalment of 1% or $6 (whichever is the greater) is due to be paid in the first full pay period on or after 1 July this year. HACSU has commenced informal discussions with members on what matters members wish to have included in the upcoming agreement. There are looming problems with salaries not keeping up with mainland and overseas trends. This is particularly so in the recruitment of Allied Health professionals. This matter is of serious concern, as there are already problems attracting qualified and experienced staff into Tasmania. There is clear evidence staff are being lured to the mainland and overseas because of better salaries and professional recognition. Already members across all classifications are raising issues that should be considered in the next agreement. HACSU officials will soon commence a detailed process of discussions with members to develop and finalise a claim. Members with suggestions should contact their regional HACSU Organiser.
