Calvary Housekeeping Members win Reduced WorkloadIn today’s fast-paced, pressurised workplace it’s one of the most commonly asked questions. The question is; how can I get control of my workload? The answer this week is, ask the HACSU members working in Housekeeping Services at Calvary. Calvary members, by working together through the union, have just had an excellent win on this issue. The Maternity and Women's Health Unit at Calvary has been known as a very heavy workload area for staff in Housekeeping Services. It's been an issue for members for some years now, with individual members raising their concerns with management on several occasions. Recently members decided to try to bring things to a head by making a formal union approach, representing a collective group. Wanda Banks-Smith along with HACSU Organiser, Geraldine Hayes, called and attended a meeting with management. A strong case was presented. By the end of the meeting management had agreed to an extra 3 hours a day, 7 days a week for the Maternity & Women's Health Unit. The message is clear. The most effective way to deal with workplace issues is to get people working together. Well done to all Calvary members in this section.
