Aldersgate get behind Aged Care CampaignMembers from Aldersgate Nursing Homes are getting right behind the aged care campaign. The Aldersgate Nursing Homes - operated by the Uniting Church - has three sites in Northern Tasmania, which all have a HACSU Worksite Committee on site. Members of the Worksite Committees at these three sites met recently to discuss issues affecting their work place and how the aged care campaign will help address these matters. At the meeting it was claimed safe staffing levels across all employment categories was being compromised due to inadequate funding by the Federal Government. This in turn has placed staff under added pressure in providing residents with the care they require and deserve. HACSU Industrial Organiser, Paul Burford, said this was a typical example of the problems that existed within the aged care industry. "Current funding levels place staff under enormous pressure to finish their work in the time allocated," Paul said. The Worksite Committee believes all members will benefit from the aged care campaign, particularly the claim to ensure safe staff levels and a less stressful workplace for members.
