HACSU is considering taking a Senior Medic to Court over Bullying.

For legal reasons we are unable at this stage to reveal his name, or any real details of the case which could identify the person.

However, the case involves a range of classic bullying behaviours, including:

  • use of a position of power and seniority to apply a vendetta,
  • systematically and maliciously bad mouthing of the HACSU member to peers,
  • undermining the member's professional judgement and running down of the member's competence,
  • the medic making a range of false and unsubstantiated allegations,
  • changing of job descriptions without any consultation, .forcing unreasonable workloads on the member,
  • attempting to undermine the job security of the member.

The case reached the stage where the HACSU member had to take a considerable amount of leave due to the effects on the member's health.

Importantly, the issue has been allowed to fester and remain unresolved by management, another common problem in such cases.

HACSU has been able to build this case of bullying and harassment because the member has taken the time to document events when they occurred and to bring in corroborative witnesses.

Follow up reports on this case will be produced in coming editions of Inform.
