Member - Angela Sheehan Stands UpHACSU officials have intervened on behalf of former contract worker Angela Sheehan after she refused to accept a restructure within the Cardiology/ Neurology Unit of the LGH, which left her out of work. HACSU took Angela's case to the Industrial Commission on the basis that Angela had four successive fixed term contracts between April 2000 and May 2002 and had an ongoing expectation of further employment. HACSU won the case, with the Department conceding a claim for permanency at 45 hours per fortnight, with additional hours up to 72, and to provide the training and assistance to enable her to apply for other positions. Angela said she was "very pleased with the result". "Without the union I wouldn't have a job. I'd encourage people to become union members and to know what their entitlements are." HACSU Industrial Organiser, Julie Tolputt is currently working with HR at LGH to find Angela a permanent position.
