Positive return for HESTAHESTA, the specialist in super for health and community services, has declared a +1.5% return on its balanced Core Pool option for 2002- 2003, capping off fifteen years of positive annual returns for the investment option where the majority of members have their super. The result means that Core Pool, HESTA's default fund, has never delivered a negative annual return since inception in 1987. "Although returns on super generally have hit an historical low in the past two years and many Funds have even been negative, HESTA has continued to deliver positive annual returns and that's good news for members," says HESTA's CEO Anne- Marie Corboy. "Even though past returns are not a reliable indicator of future performance, the fact that Core Pool has continued to deliver positive returns in tough market conditions is an indication that sticking to our diversified long-term plan through the rough times has paid off." HESTA also recently received top ratings from two independent superannuation fund ratings organisations, being awarded a SelectingSuper AAA Fund Quality Rating from Rainmaker Information and a Platinum Rating from SuperRatings. "There are few ways for people to compare the quality of super funds. Independent stamps of approval from organisations such as SelectingSuper and SuperRatings allow our members to see at a glance how HESTA is rated compared to other funds and how we are viewed by the superannuation industry," says HESTA's Marketing - Business Development Manager, Bruce Stafford. "These ratings clearly position HESTA as a market leader." There are four levels of SelectingSuper Quality Ratings, with AAA referring to an "exceptional quality super fund." SuperRatings has five levels, ranging from blue to the top level of platinum. To achieve the top ratings HESTA went through extensive analysis of its organisational strength, governance, communications, investment performance, insurance, extra services and pricing. H.E.S.T.
