Review of the Tasmanian Palliative Care Service

Palliative services across Tasmania are being reviewed. Professor Kathy Edgar, Director, Centre for Health Service Development (CHSD) University of Wollongong in NSW has been contracted by the Department of Health and Human Services to undertake the review.

The primary aim of the review is to ensure the sustainability of the service into the future. The review will commenced in October, and is expected to be completed by December 2003. Consultation with the key stakeholder groups is an important part of the process. Sessions will be held in each region for the stakeholders to meet the reviewers and to have input into the process.

These were scheduled for the week commencing 10 November 2003.
