Labor puts forward NEW DENTAL PLAN

THE ACTU has welcomed the announcement that a Latham Labor Government will establish Australian Dental Care.

This $300 million initiative will overturn the Howard Government's years of neglect.
In conjunction with the States and Territories, it will provide comprehensive and targeted dental care to working Australians.
ACTU President, Sharan Burrow, says, unlike the Howard Government, which abolished the Commonwealth dental health program, this initiative shows a Latham Labor Government will act in the interests of all Australians, not just those who can afford private health and dental coverage.

'Working men and women understand the importance of dental care. The commitment by a Latham Labor Government to take decisive action will be welcomed by the 500,000 Australians currently on dental care waiting lists,' she said.

'The ACTU endorses and welcomes Labor's Australian Dental Care program.

The program is affordable and shows that a future Labor government will care for those in need of basic services.'

In particular the ACTU welcomes proposals relating to aged and disabled Australians and preventative programs.
