Women's literacy and Civic EducationAlmost two thirds of adult women in East Timor have never attended any kind of school, and for those who have, it is often just for a year or two.
GFFTL is an organization of women students from the University of East Timor who conduct literacy training and civic education for the most disadvantaged in Dili and 13 rural Districts of East Timor. They are being assisted by APHEDA with the provision of equipment and resources, the development of curriculum, literacy training skills, some wages, transport costs and other related expenses associated with running this literacy training. A combination of districtbased literacy and civic education programs have been delivered by GFFTL, providing civic education training to 5 districts with 135 participants (95% women) in 19 classes. In a follow up program literacy training was provided to 4 districts with approximately 14 classes and 350 participants (95% women). You can support this work in East Timor by becoming a donor today.
