Freemasons HACSU Worksite Committee up and runningHACSU members have established a worksite committee at the Freemasons Home and elected their office bearers. The elected members are: Freemasons CEO, Greg Burgess, has agreed committee members may attend meetings during paid work time and has supported paid union training during the initial twelve months. Darren Mathewson from Unions Tasmania will provide the training to the committee members. The Freemasons Home is currently undergoing a major restructure and consequently some disruption to normal work practices will occur. Management have advised every effort will be made to consult with staff members prior to any changes to their rosters. The committee will be able to represent and advise members to resolve any issues or concerns that may arise from these changes. Committee members have been provided with copies of the Nursing Homes Award and registered Agreements relevant to their workplace so they are able to assist members with questions about their rights and entitlements. Members are encouraged to support the worksite committee to ensure there is an effective union presence in the workplace. Worksite committee meetings are to be held on the first Tuesday of every month. If you have a problem, that's the time to get it raised and sorted out.
