Patient Transport Services statewide are under review

HACSU members are currently participating in a statewide review of Patient Transport Services.

Members recently met to discuss options and alternatives in this area.

There are concerns management have not put their cards on the table, and that there might be pre-determined outcomes which have not been declared.

There are existing problems with staffing, ongoing training, minimum qualifications for people picking up work, including on-call work, as well as issues to do with better use of existing resources.

There is a view that some managers believe the only qualifications required are for an employee to have a driving license and be breathing.

Workers who have been in the system for some time believe they have a range of suggestions on how to make things work better and more efficiently.
