Ainslie Nursing Home hours go Up

The Ainslie Nursing Home in the Northern Region is much like any other nursing home; everyone’s going pretty much flat out all day.

Now Ainslie is in the process of adding an extra 8 beds to the facility, which is great to make the home more viable.

The only thing is that there hasn't been any talk from management about additional staff.

With 8 new beds, there's an extra 8 meals for every meal-time to be made. There's extra laundry, the flannelette sheets and doona covers. There's more cleaning. More everything really.

Even before the 8 new beds have been put in members have been experiencing increased workloads. The acuity of patients, on average, is higher. As usual, it's up to the union to put a process into motion.

As Inform goes to press, HACSU officials are writing to management, querying them over what the new staffing profiles will be. Where would we be without the union?
