Devonfield improve the Value of their Pay PacketsDevonfield members have wanted for some time to be able to access salary packaging.
HACSU members individually made requests to management, but they were always knocked back. Determined that they should be allowed to access salary packaging like thousands of other workers, the members decided they would have to get themselves more organised. Several meetings were held and a worksite committee established. There was a clear united front from the workforce. Management, at last, started to get the message that the workforce was serious, and some negotiations started in earnest. Now agreement has been reached for salary packaging to become available from the start of 2005, and an industrial agreement is being drawn up. Devonfield members believe the worksite committee has made a real difference. "We go there in force. We all bowl up there and it makes a major difference. "There are more challenges ahead but we believe the worksite committee has helped overcome some obstacles," the members said.
