Domestic violence workers in doubt

Members within the Domestic Violence Crisis Service continue to be concerned about their future.

As reported previously, Police have been given greater powers to intervene in domestic disputes.

While the increased powers are welcomed by the Crisis Counselors, members remain unsure as to their roles within a revamped service.

While members have genuine concerns regarding the future support of victims of domestic violence, they are indeed concerned about their ongoing employment and maintenance of conditions of employment.

HACSU members working in this area are preparing to meet with the Director of the Children and Families Division, Vicki Rundle, to discuss the future shape of the service and to address issues of concern to them.
