Aminya Uniform Dispute ResolvedMembers at Aminya Hostel in Scottsdale have settled a long-running disagreement with management regarding the provision of uniforms. Employers covered by the Nursing Homes Award are required to either provide and maintain uniforms, or pay a uniform allowance to staff. Until recently, Aminya workers were not receiving either. Because of this award breach, HACSU lodged a claim in the Tasmanian Industrial Commission late last year. The Commission recommended that the parties meet and attempt to resolve the issue before returning to the Commission for arbitration. At the subsequent meeting, staff, management and the union reached an agreement that the employer would pay the uniform allowance - of $4 a week - to staff. HACSU members at Aminya felt that this was a "great outcome" If your employer is not providing you with uniforms or a uniform allowance, to which you think you may be entitled, please give the HACSU Helpline a call on 1300 880 032.
