Scottsdale Workers Tell Downer Where to GoWhen Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer made a flying visit to Scottsdale in February, Scottsdale locals made sure he knew what they thought of his Government’s new workplace relations laws. The group - mainly HACSU members and their families - held "Your Rights at Work - Worth Fighting For" placards and waved union flags. Their protest attracted plenty of 'toots' from passing cars and supportive locals. "These laws will be especially bad for regional workers - in places like Scottsdale," said HACSU organiser and former Scottsdale local Kylie James. "They will undermine job security and hurt workers and their families when many of them are already struggling to keep their heads above water." Minister Downer was in Scottsdale to address the local Rotary Club.
