Eliza Purton Members Start New Worksite Committee

A brand new worksite committee has been set up at Eliza Purton Home for the Aged.

Worksite Committee member Dennis Lovell says that "the idea is to identify and address issues of concern for members and to have a good cross representation of staff from different areas."

"If anyone in our area has problems they can come to us and we can try and resolve them or bring them up at the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC)," added Shirlee Duggan.

Eliza Purton is a large, multi-campus aged care facility, which employs over 250 staff. HACSU is currently in negotiation with Eliza Purton management over a Common Law Contract that will allow staff entitlements which were removed by the Coalition Government's new anti-worker IR laws to be protected. These entitlements include access to an unfair dismissal remedy, as well as access to penalty rates.
