Hospital Aides Get UniformHospital Aides at the North West Regional Hospital, Burnie Campus, have won a fight with management to be supplied with uniforms. Laura Baldock reasoned that "everyone else seemed to have uniforms except us. There were rules about what we wore - flat shoes, navy pants, but the only thing they supplied us with was the shirts. Hospital Aides at other hospitals were provided with uniforms." "We went to the union and with their help bought it up with management, who initially refused." "We looked through the award and found the clause on uniforms. It said that anyone who had direct contact with patients should be supplied with a uniform." For Laura, a bonus was how "all the Aides worked together. We're really thrilled to have a win." "It's just great. We will be supplied with four items of clothing a year (two pairs of pants and two shirts)," Laura said. Hospital Aides' new uniforms have been fitted and ordered and are due to arrive any day.
