HACSU Member Wins Nursing PrizeLuke Finau has won the 2006 Bachelor of Nursing Academic Performance and Personal Growth prize. The prize, sponsored by HACSU, included a $150 gift voucher and was awarded as a result of Luke's exceptional results throughout his nursing degree. Luke undertook a three-year Bachelor of Nursing while working as an extended care assistant at Presbyterian Homes Legana. "I wanted to undertake some extra study for personal advancement and for better job security," Luke said, "and I really love special care work." Luke now works in Oncology at the LGH. "I would recommend the course to other carers if they have the time and are inclined to put up with the hard work. It is difficult combining work, study and family, but it's worth it. Also a supportive workplace, like mine at Legana, helps so that you can work around your study," Luke said. HACSU would like to congratulate Luke on his achievement and wish him well in his new career.
