Road Accident Rescue TV AdsAs part of the dispute, HACSU and the Ambulance Sub-branch produced and broadcast television ads focusing on the transfer of Road Accident Rescue. These ads were shown on Southern Cross and TDT over a two week period and have increased pressure on the Government over the issue. "I think that for the first time we have looked towards using other forms of media, other than 'door stops' and media releases, to get our message out," said Tim Jacobson. "In the new world of Industrial Relations, we will need to look at different ways to get members' concerns out there." "We've had a great response to the ads. They've created additional media interest and raised the community understanding of the Road Accident Rescue issue." "In this kind of industry, and many of the areas where HACSU members work, it is difficult to take traditional kinds of industrial action without causing some harm to our patients or the general community. Using this kind of media campaign can help get our message across without harming those people who we care for," Tim explained.
