DISPUTE LOOMS at Eliza Purton Nursing Home and Coroneagh Park24 November 2003HACSU members at Eliza Purton Nursing Home and Coroneagh Park are furious over Management continued attempts to enter into negotiations to reduce staffing levels between 13 to 15 FTE. At a HACSU membership meeting held on Thursday 6 November 2003, members strongly opposed management's attempts to dramatically reduce staff despite the fact that the Home's Annual General Report of September 2003 clearly states that the Home is in a reasonable position to pay its debts as when they fall due. This report also indicated that there has not been any matter or circumstances that has arisen since the end of the financial period that has significantly affected, or may significantly effect, the operations of the association, the results of the operation, or the state of affairs of the association in the future years. However, members have resolved that they would be willing to participate in a restructuring process at the Home, providing that, it would be conditional on agreed loss of hours that would be ascertainable to all concerned to ensure the quality of care is maintained. HACSU members are also seeking a commitment from Management that they agree to negotiate a voluntary Redundancy Industrial Agreement, which would eliminate involuntary redundancy and no existing employees be subjected to loss of classification, contract hours or penalties. HACSU is waiting for Management to respond to our member's request.
