Public Sector Nurses -Dispute over Salary Increments27 August 2002On Friday 23 August 2002 HACSU attended a conference at the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) over the Department of Health's failure to pay salary increments to part-time public sector nursing staff on an annual basis. Public Sector Nurses - salary increments Public Sector - On the 12 July 2002 HACSU lodged a dispute application with the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) over the Department of Health's failure to pay salary increments to part-time public sector nursing staff on an annual basis. On the Friday 23 August 2002 HACSU attended a conference at the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) over the Department of Health's failure to pay salary increments to part-time public sector nursing staff on an annual basis. At the conference, the Department sought an adjournment until such time as they are able to seek further advice on this matter. The Commission allowed for an adjournment however but also recognised HACSU's concerns that this issue has been the subject of discussions with the Department for over twelve months. The Department is still applying an outdated formula of paying the increments to part time nursing employees who work a total of 1976 hours rather than annually, regardless of the employee's hours of employment. The Department is required to provide a response to HACSU and the AIRC by Friday 27 September 2002.
