HACSU members take industrial action at Tasman Multi-purpose Centre30 September 2004A joint HACSU and ANF membership meeting held on Wednesday 29 September 2004 has resulted in members at Tasman Multi-purpose Centre taking industrial action over the managers attitude to employees, retention of trained staff, catering hours not being sufficient to do the work and there being inadequate stocks of crockery and cutlery and the amount of unpaid overtime being worked by all employees.
Effective as of today all staff will claim for all hours worked. Staff seek a restructure of the management of the MPC that incorporates a Director of Care/Manager position with a level 3 RN and Admin support. The cost savings and efficiencies from the restructure will result in increase funds for utilization at the MPC. Staff demand that negotiations for the nurses EBA commence within 14 days from 30 September 2004 and further that the 7% increase from the 1st July 2004 be paid immediately as a show of good faith. Reflecting a petition signed by staff any instructions given to staff of the MPC by the manager will be given through the Acting Director of Care until a restructure of management postions has been completed. Both HACSU and ANF have called on the Tasman Council to immediately meet to resolve these issues.
