Psychologists employed by DHHS meet and endorse industrial action01 October 2002Psychologists employed by the Department of Health and Human services recently attended meetings across the State to discuss issues relating to career structures and vacancies. Members endorsed a campaign of industrial bans and limitations to commence immediately after 11/10/02 if the Department does not agree to appoint a Senior Clinical Psychologist in the Northern Region.
"This meeting of HACSU Psychologist members calls upon Mental Health management to appoint a senior clinical psychologist in the northern region as a matter of urgency. This should occur in order that members have confidence in the proposed review of psychology services as discussed recently between HACSU Mental Health management and representatives of the Australian Psychological Society. Should management not agree to the above by the close of business 11 October 2002 members will meet and commence a campaign of industrial bans and limitations to be determined at those meetings." HACSU has sought an urgent response to the above resolution from Mental Health management. Should management provide an unsatisfactory response by the 11 October, HACSU will arrange membership meetings to determine what bans and limitations should be implemented. Other campaign strategies will also be considered at these meetings. Should members wish to discuss any of the above or require further information, Please contact your regional HACSU organiser or Tim Jacobson HACSU Assistant State Secretary on 6231 2253.
