Sign the Pledge: Commit to the Fight Ahead

02 December 2005

A message from Sharan Burrow, Greg Combet,
& the Rights at Work campaign team.

Today, John Howard’s Government is expected to pass the most radical and unfair industrial laws this country has ever seen.

But if he thinks the battle is over he is sadly mistaken. The Opposition has promised to tear up these laws if it is elected in 2007. And so today the real fight begins. Over the next 18 months we need to rally together, organise and campaign like never before.

If you can make this commitment, please Sign up to the Rights at Work Pledge at the 'Your Rights at Work' campaigning website.

Over the last few months hundreds of thousands of people have joined the Rights at Work campaign. More than half a million Australians took to the streets on November 15. More than five thousand people prepared their own submissions to the Senate Inquiry, and over 1000 phone calls and 85,000 petition statements were made calling for the legislation to be thrown out of the Senate.

Your energy and dedication to the campaign so far has been overwhelming. But it must not end today. It is only by standing together, organising and campaigning - in our workplaces and communities - that we will be able to protect our rights at work.

Please Sign the Rights at Work Pledge

The Rights at Work Pledge needs to be our biggest show of strength yet. Every person who signs our pledge is committing to maintain the fight against the Howard Government's attacks on fairness and equality. Every person who signs the pledge will stand up for their fellow workers. We must hold the Government accountable for the human toll of these laws.

If you can make this commitment, please add your name and commment to the ever-growing list. When you have done so, pass the link on to your friends, family and colleagues.

We are looking forward with great energy to the fight ahead.

Many thanks,

Sharan Burrow, Greg Combet,
& the Rights at Work campaign team.
