Physical Restraint during Health Care Delivery - Research and Recommendations03 October 2002The Joanna Briggs Institute has just researched the use of pysical restraint used in Acute and Residential Care facilities. This research led to the issue of Best Practice Information sheets by the Institute The physical restraint of people during admission to acute and residential care facilities has been a common practice for many years. There is growing concern regarding the use of these devices during health care delivery and for this reason The Joanna Briggs Institute conducted a systematic review to summarise current best evidence on this topic. Due to the broad scope of this review, the findings have been summarised in two Best Practice Information Sheets available electronically at:
