HACSU negotiations bring success as 70 Health Dept. employees given permanency.06 November 2002As a result of recent negotiations with the Department and representatives of the Office of the State Service Commissioner, HACSU can advise of the successful conversion of approximately 70 employees to permanency. A significant number of the conversions achieved through this process have occurred in instances where the particular employee had not been able to be converted. A significant number of members whom had been employed at the Royal Derwent Hospital were included in this group. This group is representative of a larger group of members of whom the agency is currently assessing the suitability for conversion through the same means. HACSU is hopeful that more conversions will happen in the very near future. As previously advised, HACSU is keen to ensure that the long standing problems with temporary employment are sorted out once and for all. The Department of Health and Human Services has a responsibility to ensure that this happens. HACSU has been provided with information regarding the latest round of conversions, should members require further information, please contact your regional HACSU Organiser. Discussions with the Office of the State Service Commissioner are continuing and further information will be provided to members as these discussions progress.
