Industrial Agreement Update

FOR the last six weeks the Health and Community Services Union (HACSU) have conducted membership meetings around the State regarding the draft interim agreement. During these meetings HACSU members have unanimously endorsed the interim agreement and the HACSU campaign strategy. The new agreement was signed by HACSU Assistant State Secretary, Tim Jacobson, and CEO of National Disability Services, Margaret Reynolds, at the National Disability Services Conference held on 13 and 14 October. The new agreement is currently being registered with the Tasmanian Industrial Commission and HACSU is hopeful that it will be in effect this month. The new agreement will deliver the following benefits within three months of registration:

• A minimum pay rise of 4.9 per cent for every DSW
• An increase in sleep allowance from $22 to $60
• An agreement between both parties to work towards pay parity within the Tasmanian Public Sector
• Agreement between both parties to develop a new classification structure
• A new 4A classification level and removal of junior rates
• No reduction in current entitlements
