St Luke's Nurses Dispute Listed in AIRC on 24 March 200329 January 2003The St Luke’s nurses’ dispute over the payment of the postgraduate allowance is listed for a further conciliation conference in the Australian Industrial Relations Commission in Launceston on Monday 24 March 2003. St Luke's is the only private hospital in Tasmania, which does not recognise hospital certificates for nurses who hold relevant additional qualifications. This dispute has remained unresolved since August 2002 when nurse members voted to take their postgraduate allowance dispute to the AIRC. HACSU has endeavoured to pursue further discussions with St Luke's management over this issue as instructed by the AIRC. However management's position remains unchanged in that it will not recognise the qualifications of non- tertiary trained specialist nurses other than midwives, nor back pay the allowance. This is despite the significant win in the Federal Court for public sector nurses
