Industrial Action forces Boss back to Negotiating Table03 September 2003Following lengthy and determined industrial action by HACSU members, the Management of Corumbene Nursing Home has finally agreed to commit to meaningful dialogue regarding the long-term viability of the home. The dispute arose amidst proposals to slash hours from the staffing roster to address a deficit of $250,000. Members instituted a series of bans and limitations to express their concern about safe staffing levels and resident care. As a sign of good faith, members resolved to suspend action pending the outcome of further negotiations. Further meetings are scheduled for next week. HACSU Industrial Officer Leanne McDougall said: " Members agreed to lift industrial action as a sign of good faith to allow negotiations to continue. However, talks must be conducted in an open and honest manner by all parties if this dispute is to be resolved". The New Norfolk Community is invited to attend a public meeting at 7:00pm on Wednesday 3 September 2003 at the New Norfolk District Football Clubrooms, to inform them about what is happening at Corumbene.
