Department advise of St John's Park Cafeteria Closure

The Human Resources of the Department of Health and Human Services contacted HACSU to advise them the St John’s Park Cafeteria was closing on the 14 November 2003. Members who will be affected by the closure were also notified.

A review was conducted by the Department to determine the impact on staff within the site, but no information was sought from people who work within other areas, family members or visitors. The Department advised that as a result of the review and the deficit of approximately $100,000 per annum the continued operation of the cafeteria was not viable. HACSU has requested a copy of the review.

The Department did recognise however that many staff utilise the cafeteria and that any future arrangements would need to address staff meal purchases and are currently investigating further options.

A joint Union membership meeting was conducted at St Johns Park Cafeteria on Monday 27 October to discuss issues and concerns.
