On Friday afternoon we received an offer for your wages and conditions agreement but, unfortunately and unsurprisingly, were underwhelmed.
The offer is just 2.25% a year, despite your wages continuing to fall behind those of interstate colleagues, and more importantly fails to recognise the significant wage restraint you’ve shown over the past seven-plus years. There are some improvements to conditions, ones that were already on offer, but key issues in your log of claims haven’t been addressed, and we’d anticipated that this round of negotiations would address our conditions claims as promised. The government is also asking for a 3-year deal, not something we’ve ever asked for! It’s not great, and the ‘reset of negotiations’ the Premier promised has hardly occurred.
