Yesterday we held our latest negotiations meeting with genU management to try and get some progress out of them on your new agreement.
While they have been slowly working through the items on your log of claims and progress has been made, we’re hearing from you that you’re frustrated that the progress is dragging on and looks to head into the new year.
Talks have been going well on issues like casuals being able get permanency, part timers increasing their hours, increased family and domestic violence leave, getting a consultative committee, better delegates rights and better flexibility provisions, with clauses now being drafted.
But on the other hand, your claims for post graduate allowances and buddy allowances have been outright rejected – with indications that they’re set to reject other things too.
You’ve told us that what’s most important are the big-ticket claims like wages, increased sleepover payments, and increases to personal leave – and when it comes to this genU still haven’t been able to tell us where they land.
We’ve made it clear to them that workers can’t go backwards, and they don’t have time to wait for something as important as wages. We told genU at our last meeting that we expect a comprehensive offer by Christmas – because you deserve to know what’s going on without their delays.
genU’s excuse is that they’re still waiting on Federal Government announcements about NDIS pricing, our response was that you don’t deserve to be left in limbo over issues that you have no control over, and you need to see that they’re taking things seriously.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 6 December – so let’s hope we get a proper offer by then.
