Secure Futures: Let's make long term casuals permanent!

Posted on 23 November 2023 in Public Sector

We’ve seen a trend over the last decade of government departments growing their causal pool of staff, despite their obligation to try and employ workers in more permanent roles.

What it’s meant is that many workers in the public sector have been left on casual contracts for years despite working consistent hours and even being put on rosters.

This is not what casual employment is meant to look like.

You deserve to be given permanency if you want it – and you need to know you can pay your bills and plan for life.

In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis it’s even more important than ever that you have a job you can count on to pay your mortgage or rent and put food on the table each week for you and your loved ones.

If you’ve been a long-term casual with the department for over 12 months with consistent hours and want to become permanent, we need to hear from you ASAP.

We’ll be putting together a list of workers who are seeking permanency to bring to the department – so if this is you make sure you send us an email or give us a call on 1300 880 032.

You deserve a secure future and a job to count on – and we’ll back you on it.
For more information about this or any other industrial matter, members should contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or email [email protected] or complete our online contact form
